1.3 Demography
The population of Barangay Sto. Niño has a rapid increase over the years. This is due to its strategic location within the city proper and the city’s fast growing economy and infrastructure. Being the new regional center of Region IX, people from other places are jam-packed in the urban barangays including this Barangay. According to the latest survey conducted by this Barangay, it has a total number of population of Eight Thousand One Hundred Seven (8,107) and with the total of 1,359 Households.

Majority of the residents of this barangay are single. This is probably categorized according to their ages and commitments. The children, students and other younger generation belong to this group. It is also shown that a large number of unknown civil status is very significant. This might due to their desire of hiding their true marital status for fear of letting others to know them. However, there are few individuals who are living as live-in partners without the benefit of marriage.

Barangay Sto. Niño is generally populated by individuals who are employed by the government agencies. Majority of them are contractual workers and only few are regular employees. Table shows below that most of the employed residents in this barangay are the skilled workers in various levels of expertise. The numbers of farmers who are residing in this barangay are actually tilling their lands in the other barangays. Though this barangay is so accessible to the sea, it is shown that only a small number of fishermen prefer to engage in this kind of work.
